PETROS SUPPORTS SARAWAK REGATTA 2023 IN PRESERVING SARAWAK'S CULTURAL HERITAGE

Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (PETROS) is supporting the Sarawak Regatta-Kuching Waterfront Festival 2023, marking its first participation as the Platinum Sponsor this year.

The initiative is part of PETROS’ commitment to invest in local community while preserving Sarawak’s diverse culture and rich heritage, as the corporation continues to grow its participation throughout the oil and gas value chain.

PETROS Chairman, Tan Sri Datuk Amar (Dr) Hamid Bugo presented a mock cheque to the Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak, Dato Sri Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, at a handover ceremony on 24 October 2023. He was accompanied by PETROS Group Chief Executive Officer, Dato Janin Girie and PETROS Vice President for Human Capital and Relations, Ismail Said.

Also present were Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak, Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew; Permanent Secretary for the Ministry for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak, Datu Sherrina Hussaini; and Kuching Resident, Norleha Haji Sharif.

The Sarawak Regatta is a shared symbol of unity representing Sarawak’s unique indigenous culture, and has evolved from a local sports event to an annual celebration that pays homage to the State’s great cultural traditions and aquatic heritage. This year’s festival takes place from 28 October to 5 November at the Kuching Waterfront along the Sarawak River.
